Glacier National Park has a special place in the American heart, as the Going to the Sun Road is both an engineering feat and a scenic trip through some of the most beautiful scenery this country has. The road cuts along Lake McDonald, which in 2022 was descended upon by smoke from a nearby forest fire. Although the smoke itself may represent impending climate change, the obscurity of distance provides hope for the future.
