I am an American photographer on a mission to document the beauty of this incredible country. The nature, wildlife, and Americana are all deep inspirations to me for a dreamlike world built by carefully framed photos. My commitment within my art is to a deep respect for the landscape that I explore. I use a Nikon D3300 with lenses ranging from 18 mm to 600 mm, and my favorite editing softwares are ViewNX 2 and RawTherapee. I find that I can emphasize a lot of what I want by using color cages–it is truly one of my favorite tools. When it comes to my overall strategy, I work and play by the philosophy that every photographic setting is different and deserves to be treated with care and individuality.
“When everything is draped in snow, the mountains sneak into view. By the grace of contrast, they billow into the cloud-soaked sky like some mysterious being pressing against a curtain. Mountains always feel closer than they really are.”
Carson Goldsmith was named a winner in the FrstHand call “Winter Wonderland” for her piece on the historic Highway 50 through Nevada, also known as “The Loneliest Road in America”. You can view the story here: Going Nowhere in the Great Basin.
